“The war is over, Derry,” says Thorpe.\u00a0<\/p>\n
“Yeah, well, uh, I think I’ll look around, Mister Thorpe, thanks,” says Fred, standing up and shaking Thorpe’s hand. “Take care of that cold,” he says. Thorpe uses his sinus spray again.\u00a0<\/p>\n
Downstairs, Fred says goodbye to Mister Bullard.\u00a0<\/p>\n
“I gotta run,” says Fred. “I’ll drop back and see you later.”<\/p>\n
“Alright,” says Bullard. “Bye-bye.”<\/p>\n
“Goodbye,” says Fred.\u00a0<\/p>\n
Derry walks past shoppers, and glances at the lunch counter. Two high school girls stare at him, and he looks back at them. They giggle to each other. Fred smiles and leaves.\u00a0<\/p>\n
At the Cornbelt Trust Company, Al enters through the large lobby doors.\u00a0<\/p>\n\n\n
